Newton's Tree | Forward Deployed Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer | London, UK | HYBRID | Full-Time | https://www.newtonstree.ai/

Newton's Tree is an early-stage health-tech startup enabling healthcare providers to select, test, deploy, and monitor third-party AI applications as part of routine care pathways. Our enterprise AI platform allows hospitals to safely and effectively adopt AI technologies at scale.

We are looking for adventurous builders to join us in two key roles to help bridge our platform and the hospital frontline:

Forward Deployed Engineer (£70k-£90k): You will be the critical link between our internal engineering team and hospital IT teams. While our SRE team focuses on core platform stability, you will own the site-specific implementations—navigating complex local networks, architecting integration paths, and ensuring our AI platform works across diverse environments. Stack: Linux, Kubernetes, JSON/YAML, Python, SQL, and healthcare interoperability standards (HL7v2, FHIR, DICOM). https://www.newtonstree.ai/job/forward-deploy-engineer

Site Reliability Engineer (£70k-£90k): You will ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our AI platform both in hospital sites (on-prem) and on the cloud. You'll work closely with customers to install hardware for Kubernetes clusters and collaborate with dev teams to ensure swift, reliable feature deployments. Stack: Linux, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, GitOps (FluxCD), Argo Workflows, Talos Linux, Cilium CNI, Teleport, and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog). https://www.newtonstree.ai/job/site-reliability-engineer

Logistics: Both roles are Hybrid within the UK (with occasional in-person working in London and travel to hospital sites as needed). Please note that applicants must have the right to work in the UK, as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

To apply: Send your CV and a short note telling us why you'd be excited to work with Newton's Tree to info@newtonstree.com, or read more at the links above.

About me. Senior backend engineer, ten years on the JVM. Since 2021 I have been one of the engineers behind LoverCraft, a US survival network that peaks at 1,500 concurrent players and holds 300 to 450 on a normal evening, with 30+ cross-server services spread across several Debian hosts. Team of three to five. My work is low-latency cross-server state over Redis, an economy with an audit row per transaction, JVM tuning, and end-to-end telemetry on ClickHouse. When a backend goes down mid-session, players notice in seconds and I am in the incident channel.

Before that, five years at Senior Sistemas building Java, Spring Boot and Angular for Kinross Gold, Petrobras, Banco BMG and Grendene. Intern to owning the software factory's architecture area.

Production work is closed-source under contract. The open-source side is on GitHub, written up on the site. Best fit: real-time or high-throughput backends, game and multiplayer infrastructure, platform work. English is fluent written, intermediate spoken.

Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) | Madrid, Spain | HYBRID | Senior Scientific Computing Engineer | Full-time

CNIO is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. We're looking for a senior scientific computing engineer to join the IT, Scientific Computing and AI area and take ownership of the infrastructure behind our research, from genomics pipelines to AI models. You'll be the senior scientific computing person in the area, reporting directly to me (the area head), and you'll help define where scientific computing at CNIO goes over the next few years.

What you'll do:

- Shape the roadmap for scientific computing at the centre and drive it forward

- Own and evolve our HPC cluster (Slurm): scheduling, monitoring, capacity planning, user support

- Build out our GPU / AI infrastructure as the centre's ML workloads grow

- Work with researchers to turn their analyses into robust, reproducible pipelines and tools

- Optional: co-author research papers

What we're looking for:

- Several years running Linux HPC environments in production (Slurm or similar)

- Comfortable with automation (Ansible, Python), containers (Apptainer/Docker) and workflow managers (Nextflow, Snakemake or similar)

- Someone who wants to set direction, not just keep the lights on

- Bonus: Ceph, Kubernetes, GPU stacks, a bioinformatics background

- Spanish not required

Spacelift | Remote (Europe) | Full-time | Senior Software Engineer | $80k-$110k+ (can go higher)

We're a VC-funded startup (recently raised $51M Series C) building an infrastructure orchestrator and collaborative management platform for Infrastructure-as-Code – from OpenTofu, Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation, Pulumi, Kubernetes, to Ansible.

On the backend we're using 100% Go with AWS primitives. We're looking for backend developers who like doing DevOps'y stuff sometimes (because in a way it's the spirit of our company), or have experience with the cloud native ecosystem. Ideally you'd have experience working with an IaC tool, i.e. Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, or SaltStack.

Overall we have a deeply technical product, trying to build something customers love to use, and have a lot of happy and satisfied customers. We promise interesting work, the ability to open source parts of the project which don't give us a business advantage, as well as healthy working hours.

If that sounds like fun to you, please apply at https://careers.spacelift.io/jobs/3006934-software-engineer-...

You can find out more about the product we're building at https://spacelift.io and also see our engineering blog for a few technical blog posts of ours: https://spacelift.io/blog/engineering
